Crispin serves as Director of the Phoenix Group of companies and has a successful 20-year track record as a financial market professional. He served at KPMG as audit manager and equity derivatives structurer and analyst for UBS. Crispin was Vice President of Equity Derivatives Sales and Structuring for Deutsche and achieved a Financial Mail derivatives analyst rating in 2005. He served as Head of Sales and Trading of Nedbank Capital’s Equity Derivatives and Prime Broking business where he was instrumental in rebuilding the Nedbank business.
Sihle is a corporate and commercial lawyer at CMS South Africa who advises listed and unlisted clients on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, fund formation and private equity and general commercial matters.
Sihle has worked with South African and multinational clients in various sectors including financial services, real estate, infrastructure development, telecommunications, mining, energy, consumer goods and the public sector. Sihle‘s has experience in upstream and downstream work, as he clients on fund structuring, and acquisition and disposal of assets by funds. Sihle has also worked with infrastructure funds with interests in various parts of the African continent. Sihle has a keen interest in Section 12J Funds and empowerment funds. Sihle also works closely with private equity funds and fund managers who have formed advisory and structuring joint ventures with CMS South Africa, to pursue special opportunities in the fund management space
Darren has 20 years of experience in financial markets. After a 4-year role in sales on a futures and warrants desk, Darren’s focus shifted towards trading with a move to the Index arbitrage book in 2006. The success of this book precipitated a move to the proprietary trading arm of Nedbank Capital in 2009 where Darren was involved in outright directional trading in equity and futures as well as index and single stock arbitrage. Darren has extensive experience in managing and trading interest rate risk through the management of curve risk in the delta One business, which he ran from 2012- 2015. Darren was responsible for the conceptualisation and implementation of the highly profitable equity liquidity origination trades at Nedbank CIB. Darren is currently a director of Phoenix Capital, the holding company for the Phoenix Group of companies.

He serves as Director of the Phoenix Group of companies, where over the past 6 years he has been instrumental in leading the advisory team in successfully executing a number of transactions, capital raises and due diligences in the Property, Media and Industrial space. Past roles include audit manager at KPMG, structurer and analyst for UBS, sales and structuring for Deutsche and head of sales and trading in Nedbank Capital’s Equity business.
Milton has broad experience advising financial institutions and sponsors, in relation to acquisition finance, cross-border finance, private equity, structured finance, debt capital markets, derivatives, hedge funds, high yield debt, and securitisation Milton was admitted as an Attorney in South Africa in 1997 and as a Solicitor in England and Wales in 2003. Before joining the practice, Milton worked as senior counsel in the private equity practise of O’Melveny & Myers, London where he acted for private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds and hedge funds on the various capital market, structured finance, acquisitions and private equity-related transactions. He has experience in the European, Asian and African markets.
His tax experience covers a broad range of transactions, with an emphasis on tax advisory relevant to the cross-border, banking and mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, upstream and downstream advisory for funds and black economic empowerment funds.
Andrew has significant tax litigation experience, and he has excellent relationships with numerous South African regulators. In the banking and financial service industries, Andrew has advised various financial institutions on financing transactions including project finance, structured finance and preference shares. He is specialised regarding the tax considerations applicable to advising on the structuring of derivatives, financial instruments and other structured products.
Motheo worked as an analyst at 27four Investment Managers, before joining the Private Equity & Structured Investment Products team at the Public Investment Corporation. Motheo is particularly strong with valuations; financial modelling; financial analysis and has engaged with a multitude of corporate leaders; shareholders and institutions across the country.
Tafadzwa is particularly strong with deal origination; business development; structuring investments; research; modelling and market analysis and has engaged with a number of banks, market experts, finance houses, industry specialists and other participants within the market
Sijabulile has four years’ worth of project finance experience and has extensive experience in renewable energy having previously been part of a team that successfully tendered for and reached financial close on solar PV and wind projects across Africa including the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme (“REIPPP”). His skillset includes inter-alia, financial forecasting and modelling, valuations, business analytics, due diligence activities, report writing and presentation, review and negotiation of legal documentation and tender preparation. This has led to multiple liaisons with various stakeholders including lenders, equity partners, off-takers, EPC and O&M contractors and external advisors.
